Affiliate disclosure

Some links on argentina.ie are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That is how the site is funded. This page explains exactly how it works, because a comparison site that hides this is not worth reading.

The one rule that matters

A commission never changes where a shop appears. Theprice comparison table sorts on price per kilo and landed cost. Nothing else. There is no paid placement, no sponsored row and no shop that bought its way up.

You can check this yourself. At the time of writing, the shops at the top of our table for most products are ones we earn nothing from, and we say plainly in our reviews where a merchant we could earn from is overpriced. If a commission ever changed a ranking, the table would be worthless — to you and to us.

Which links are affiliate links

Affiliate links on this site are marked in two ways:

  • Technically, with rel="sponsored nofollow", which is what search engines and browser tools read.
  • Visually, with a disclosure notice at the top of every page that contains them, before the first link — not buried in a footer.

The programmes we use, or are in the process of joining:

  • Amazon.ie Associates — links to products on Amazon.ie. Amazon pays a percentage of qualifying purchases, which varies by product category and is low single digits for grocery items like yerba mate.
  • Wise — money transfer and multi-currency accounts, linked from our Spanish-language guides where moving money between Argentina and Ireland comes up.
  • Travel and health insurance — linked where long-stay cover is a genuine requirement, such as the working holiday visa.
  • eSIM providers — linked in the arrival checklist, where getting online at the airport is a real problem to solve.

Where an affiliate programme is active, the standard Amazon statement applies to our Amazon links: as an Amazon Associate, argentina.ie earns from qualifying purchases.

Status at launch

To be completely straight with you: at the time this page was published, our affiliate accounts were not all active yet. Several programmes, Amazon's included, require a live site with real content before they will accept an application. So a number of the outbound links on this site currently earn us nothing at all — they are plain links to the merchant.

We are publishing this disclosure now anyway, so the policy exists before the money does.

Links to shops we earn nothing from

Most of the Irish shops we compare — the independent yerba specialists — have no affiliate programme at all. We link them anyway, and they frequently beat the merchants we could earn from. That is the whole point of the comparison. If we ever agree a commission or discount code with an Irish shop, this page will say so, and its position in the table still will not change.

What it costs you

Nothing. An affiliate link never raises the price you pay; the commission comes out of the merchant's margin. If you would rather not use one, go to the shop's site directly — every merchant we mention is named in plain text so you can.

Prices, accuracy and independence

Prices are checked by hand and shown with the date they were checked. They change without notice, especially on Amazon third-party listings. Always confirm the final price at the checkout before buying — we do not control merchant pricing and cannot be responsible for changes after our last check.

No merchant pays for coverage, reviews the text before publication, or has any say in our ratings. If that ever changes, it will be labelled on the page in question.

Questions

If something on this page is unclear, or you think a ranking looks influenced, email us at hola@argentina.ie and we will explain or fix it.
