Amazon.ie
Bimodal on yerba: a handful of third-party sellers list the cheapest 1kg bags in the country, while German-import listings of the same brands run to double the shelf price. Free delivery over €25.
3.5 / 5Reviewed by argentina.ie
What is good
- + Cheapest 1 kg in Ireland when a third-party seller is competitive — €9.99 for Taragüí and Rosamonte when we checked
- + Free delivery over €25 dispatched by Amazon, the lowest threshold of any option
- + Free delivery with Prime regardless of order size
- + Easy returns and a familiar checkout
What is not
- − Prices are bimodal — some listings are more than triple the fair price
- − German-import listings at €31/kg sit beside €9.99/kg sellers
- − Multipacks dominate search results and distort per-bag prices
- − Slower delivery: quoted dates ranged from 4 to 16 days
- − Third-party grocery prices move week to week
Shipping: Free delivery on orders over €25 dispatched by Amazon, and free for Prime members regardless. Under €25 the fee is calculated at checkout. Quoted delivery on these listings ran from 4 to 16 days.
Amazon.ie is the strangest entry in this comparison, because it holds both ends of the Irish market at the same time. When we checked, third-party sellers had Taragüí Elaborada con Palo 1 kg and Rosamonte Tradicional 1 kg at €9.99 — the cheapest kilo anywhere in Ireland, undercutting the specialists. On the same search page, German-import listings offered Rosamonte and Canarias 500 g at €15.50, which is €31 per kilo for yerba that costs about a third of that at Almacén Argentino.
Both are real, both are live, and nothing on the page tells you which is which. The defence is simple and worth repeating: read the price per kilo, not the price per bag, and check whether you are looking at a single unit or a 3-, 6- or 10-pack. Multipacks dominate the search results and make casual comparison useless.
Delivery is the other differentiator. Free over €25 on items dispatched by Amazon, or free with Prime — by far the lowest threshold of any option in Ireland, and the reason a three-bag Amazon order is genuinely the cheapest way to buy yerba here at around €9.99 per kilo landed. Against that, delivery is slow: quoted dates on the listings we checked ran from 4 to 16 days, where the Irish shops dispatch in one to two working days.
Amazon rewards a buyer who already knows what they want and checks the maths. It punishes browsing. Cross-check every listing against the price comparison table — and note that Amazon prices are the most volatile in our dataset, so the hand-checked date matters more here than anywhere else.
